Serving up A
Life Sentence
This piece is really heavy and was difficult to make and research about. This mixed media sculpture is layered with a lot of symbolism, mainly serving to represent the black lives taken in 2020 due to increased police brutality. It works to address systemic injustices faced by black men and women in North America every day. Innocent lives disregarded, families broken, communities grieving; trivial actions we take everyday, harmless to most, bearing fatal consequences if you’re black.
